One of the many reasons I love these older stalks is how the wood changes with time in the harsh desert environment. It is unreal what pigments are created over time and this is one of the most beautiful combination of colors I have found. It is hard to tell from the photos just how unique it is but whoever gets this one will be blown away when they see it in person. The sound is incredible  when I first started playing it I said to myself “this is like a wild mustang”. It has so much power and speed right off the bat and has tremendous response. The drone is so sweet and love the harmonics while singing along with the drone. The vocals and overtones are amazing with easy transitions. The big bell with smaller bore at the mouthpiece creates really strong back pressure and takes so little breath. Plays with such power in every style of play and the perfect didge for every level player! Can’t wait to see who the lucky new owner will be!

This is one beast of a didge! I have really enjoyed making these extremely deep keys as they are both a challenge and love how other worldly they are to play. This is a very thick old soul agave full of cracks and bug holes inlayed with turquoise. I leave the cracks to show its age and although some worry about them, don’t, as they are all sealed and have never had one open up. This drone has quite an impact with its bass tones and deep note. This has a bigger note and was a huge agave which creates these tremendous bass tones. This would be such a great didge for a more experienced player and would be great for meditation and sound healing. It also has great rhythmic capabilities despite its size and key which can be a surprise if you’ve ever played some in this deep a key. The overtones are so calming and easy to find and the vocals are such a blast. A one of a kind! Such a trip to play and so excited to see where it’s new home is!

I have always loved these thicker old soul agaves. For one they have so much character in their appearance with so many stories to tell. They are more of a rare find as they are mostly from the monster agaves that shoot up incredible flowers that tower above the ocotillo and oak trees. They also have so much depth and personality in their drone. I found this one on a recent harvest and was the first one I worked on when I returned. In this area that I found this agave grow some of the largest agaves I have ever seen in the wild. This was an enormous stalk and this is the section near the top of the flower. This one has such an amazing feel to it with a powerful, bass filled, mesmerizing drone. I normally don’t recommend deeper keys to beginners but this one would work if it catches your ear. The ease it plays with is astounding and can play rhythms with no effort. The back pressure is perfect for this key and is so nice to circular breathe on and hold long notes with the little breath required. The overtones are amazing and so easy to sustain and the vocals really pop in contrast and harmony with its drone. Just such a powerful didge that would fit into any style of play!
