As you might have read from the description of #358 this is another incredibly unique and powerful didge that grew right along side it for many years. This is an absolute monster of a didge and playing these big belled didges is hard to put into words just how fun it is. This one is just such an unbelievable form and this old stalk has some amazing wood tones and dense wood that explodes to almost a 9″ bell. As you might see from the photos sometimes these huge agaves form a lot of texture, from I am assuming, termites and other desert insects. There are a ton of caverns and texture on the inside of the bell. It just adds so much character and makes the sound waves travel and bounce around in different ways. This one isn’t as strong at toots as it is easy to reach the first overtone but the rest are harder with the enormous bell. This is for someone who just loves exploring the powerful key of C# and the healing tones this one projects. The drone has such a nice balance with awesome bass tones. The vocals are the best on these monster agaves and if you like to sing along with the drone this one is perfect. It has amazing response and back pressure and would be perfect for any skill level. And for the performer this one would definitely draw a crowd both on the stage or street. I have had so much fun working on this one and seeing it come to life and excited to pass it on to some lucky player out there!
One of my favorite didges is a little F# that looks very unassuming but packs a big punch and is a rhythm making machine. I wanted to create another similar to it so cut this one to the same exact length. The result was the same, an incredibly powerful rhythmic machine! I have always loved playing these higher pitch didges and this one would be such a great fit for someone who is looking to explore the higher keys wanting to play quick percussive style rhythms. It also excels in a more ambient style as the higher keys are so great to play in this way as well. Despite its size this one has a ton of volume and bass tones with really easy to reach toots. There is also a really nice overtone in the drone when pushed right. This would be a great travel didge with its size and sturdiness as this is a thick very dense agave. It also has great back pressure and doesn’t take very much air to get going. I think this would be a great street performance didge as well to travel around with and not take up a lot of space while producing good volume and also great for sound healing. A little powerhouse!
This new area I have been exploring has some incredibly thick and dense stalks. I just love the power they play with and this is about as thick as agaves come. Another swiss army knife of a didge as this one can do it all. As you might have heard in the sound clip there is some really explosive drum like sounds you can make with this one. The back pressure is just perfect and takes no breath and even with the smaller bell this one has great volume and would be heard in any drum circle or acoustic jam. The sturdy, thicker walls make this one great for traveling and hiking and camping. The drone of C# is just so grounding and this one has just beautiful overtone capabilities overt the bass tones in the drone and the toots are really easy with the shape and dense wood. This one is perfect for every level and if I was just starting out this would be my pick. Such an awesome didge!
I just love these bigger bore thick Old Souls! This one is absolutely beautiful with so many pigments from white to blacks to reds. The carpenter bees always love these thicker stalks and this one has lots of turquoise inlaid throughout in the perfect little circles they leave behind. They also leave grooves on the inside so there is some nice texture in parts on this one. This one has such a nice calming bass filled drone and would be a great one for grounding in these stressful times. Very easy overtones which are easy to transition to from the drone. The vocals are powerful and so clear over the drone and travel nicely up and down the stalk. I have this one a pretty good discount, so it’s a steal for such an amazing player!
This is one of the most unique belled agaves I have found. This enormous agave grew 15 feet from #359 and seems both spent a lifetime communicating on aspiring to become amazing didges:) A lot of times with these extremely large agaves will have a huge bell at the base but this one has this extremely long bell at such an unusual angle. This shape and long bell creates some incredible playing capabilities with an amazing bass filled drone, easy overtones, incredible vocals, and can play so strong in every style. This would be an incredible didge to start your journey with the instrument to the most advanced to reach another level. I am just blown away by how easy it is to play and how much it inspired immediately. Because of its angle shipping is a lot more on this one so I actually lowered the price by $100. I can’t wait to see where it ends up!
My dog Bean just loves didgeridoo and certain ones she will always come over and hang out nearby for a listen. She seems to love this one and I do as well. This one has such a nice round bass tone to the drone with its bigger bore and some incredible vocal ability and volume that explode out that large bell. This one is just as comfortable playing ambient soundscapes as it is incredibly fast rhythms. It has a really soothing drone and registered in E at 432hz. Can fluctuate obviously with climate but just has a healing energy to it. I love the wood tones in this one and the bell is unique with such a light coloration with some nice contrasting darker lines. This would be such a great fit for every skill level and style!
On my drive home from this harvest I was pretty beat and ready to call it when I saw this out of the corner of my eye. It had fallen over on a pretty steep hill and decided to check one last agave out. I am so glad I did as this is such an amazing didge! This was an enormous stalk that toppled over because of its great weight and size. After falling it cured in the desert with one side being bleached white from the intense desert sun. This is really unusual and just love the look of it. Beside the unique colors this is such a thick and dense stalk with beautiful curves that you can’t see as well in the pics. This is such a soulful didge and love the deep key of B. Would be so great for meditative style of play and also has tremendous rhythmic ability. The vocals are so strong and the overtones so clear and easy to find. It take so little breath you can play the overtones like a crystal bowl. Soothing bass tones in the well balanced drone and such great back pressure. Most of the time I don’t recommend B’s or deeper keys to beginners but this one is just so easy to play it would work for any level. Such a unique piece!
Sold, Thanks again Hunter! In Tepotzlan, MOR, Mexico
D# is one of those notes that just gets you moving. I sometimes play at a reiki circle and one the practitioners has a D# crystal bowl and talked about the energetic nature of the note. If you need some uplifting this might be the perfect didge for you! This one is so light weight and plays so easily requiring such little breath. Would be so good for the beginning didge player but also for the most experienced as this one is just explosive. With its thinner walls and big bell it has a ton of volume and the vocals and overtones so clear and easy with its form. One of my favorite keys for rhythmic play this one will get you moving and lift you up!
