I had to look down the bell of this didge to double check I hadn’t installed a drum. It plays with incredible rhythmic ability and explosiveness and has awesome back pressure to create complex patterns with ease. The response is mind blowing and so easy to transfer from drone to overtones and incorporate vocals which are so strong. Such an ancient beautiful agave that just has an amazing warm bass filled drone with its bigger bore and thicker walls. The overtone ability is off the charts and has tremendous percussive ability. Like all agaves it also excels in an ambient meditative style of play and has such a calming effect on player and listener. This is an ancient stalk full of stories and you can just feel the power and wisdom it has when you first hold it. I love working on these older stalks and leave in the features such as the exterior cracks and inlay turquoise to highlight these stories of so many years living in the harsh desert. Such a powerhouse that has so much complexity and soul!
